I have provided therapy to many amazing individuals whose strength and resiliency have allowed me to witness positive changes and transformations. These successes are the fuel that motivate me to want to continue empowering people to make the positive changes they would like to see in their lives. I also believe that you are the expert on you and as your therapist I am merely a tool to assist and guide you during your process.
Every individual is unique; therefore, everyone's treatment will also be unique. I will utilize a strength based perspective while working closely with you to help identify your specific goals and needs. Being an eclectic therapist, I find truth in many therapeutic modalities and believe it is most effective to adapt my approach by using various modalities when pairing interventions with goals. Common treatment modalities from which I draw include: Acceptance, Attachment, Cognitive Behavioral, Humanistic, Mindfulness, Psychodynamic, Relational and Systems.
After receiving my Bachelor’s in Social Work from California State University, Chico in 2001 and my Master’s in Social Work from California State University, Sacramento in 2003, I continued gaining knowledge and experience by working in a variety of therapeutic settings including Substance Abuse Treatment Clinics, Residential Treatment Facilities, Foster Family Agencies and Intensive Outpatient Mental Health Clinics as well as within the public school system in Sacramento County. Most of my experience was gained through facilitating individual, family and group therapy sessions with adolescents and young adults. I have had the opportunity to work alongside youth and families with diverse racial, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds as well as members of the LGBTQ community, all of which have enhanced my level of cultural intelligence. Along the way, I received a Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Certification and became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in July 2010.
